Xtreme Safety Radiator Caps are specifically designed for the prevention of burns and scalding from radiator cap removal in the mining, automotive and motorsport industries.
The original intention behind developing these safety radiator caps was to prevent burn injuries sustained by maintenance personnel in the underground coal mining industry.
At the time, there was no radiator cap available from radiator cap manufacturers that could satisfy all aspects of the safety requirements of the mines we were servicing.

Industrial radiator caps to suit a 70mm filler neck are available in Australia with lever action to allow relief of pressure but can be removed without lifting the lever to vent the cooling system thus putting the operator at risk. Our Xtreme Safety Radiator Caps have an inbuilt locking mechanism where the lever must be lifted before the cap can be removed. This allows the cooling system to be vented before the cap is removed. The caps have a stainless steel locating plate attached to the top of the cap which locates the lever into a position of direction for the locking pin to go through the cap top and into the filler neck.
The automotive range of radiator caps available in Australia use a plastic lever and a plastic centre pin for pressure release which has some safety issues and makes it unsuitable for some parts of the industry. In the case of vehicles used in underground mining, these caps have an aluminium locating plate riveted to the top of the cap which locates the lever into a position of direction for the locking pin to go through the cap top and into the filler neck. Our Xtreme Safety Radiator Caps have a stainless steel locating plate for this purpose and use a metal lever and brass centre pin.
